FUJI-SAN

FUJI-SAN

A contemporary graphic art print, perhaps somewhat reminiscent of van Gogh, by Hayato Tokugawa, depicting Mount Fuji, the eternal symbol of Japan, one of the nation’s three sacred mountains, the inspiration for artists and poets, the subject of countless ukiyo-e and haiku, and the object of holy pilgrimage for centuries, surrounded by morning mist.

East Meets West Fine Arts is happy to offer this elegant, sophisticated graphic art by Hayato Tokugawa of the iconic Mt. Fuji as posters, prints, decorative wall art, tote bags and packs, men's and women's sportswear as well as cups, mugs, and other interesting and decorative items for the home.

THE GREAT WAVE OFF KANAGAWA BY HAYATO TOKUGAWA

A surrealistic impression by Hayato Tokugawa of The Great Wave off Kanagawa (神奈川沖浪裏, Kanagawa-oki nami ura, "Under a wave off Kanagawa"), also known as "The Great Wave" or simply "The Wave," a woodblock print by the Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai. It was published sometime between 1830 and 1832 in the late Edo period as the first print in Hokusai's series "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji." It is Hokusai's most famous work, and one of the most recognizable works of Japanese art in the world. This particular graphic print was used as the cover of “The Annotated Glimpses of Unfamiliar Japan by Lafcadio Hearn,” edited and illustrated by Mr. Tokugawa.

East Meets West Fine Arts is happy to offer this elegant, sophisticated print as fine wall art, including this reproduction on canvas, as well as frameable posters and prints (in fact, we have included various options so that you can mat and frame your print on our shop and receive the complete, finished product at your home), not to mention as a beautiful greeting card and also sportswear items and things for the home.

RYŪ SHŌ TEN (龍昇天): DRAGON RISING TO HEAVEN

Ryū Shō Ten (龍昇天, lit. Dragon Rising up to Heaven), also known Mt. Fuji and the Dragon from Gekko Zuihitsu (Gekko’s Sketchbook) is an elegant ukiyo-e of a dragon, shrouded in dark rain clouds, soaring into the sky with majestic Mt. Fuji is towering above. The print, dated 1897 is by Ogata Gekkō (尾形月耕) (1859 – 1920), a Japanese painter and woodblock print artist of the ukiyo-e genre. Gekko's work was inspired by Hokusai, creating a series of one hundred prints of Mount Fuji; however, he did develop his own style, with significant stylistic elements from traditional Japanese painting.
